Parker Adds Another Bracelet to His Collection

Brock Parker proved his first bracelet was no fluke as he won his second bracelet of the 2009 World Series of Poker in the $2,500 No-Limit Hold'em Six Handed event.

Parker’s first bracelet was also in a six handed event. It’s obvious that Parker has mastered the strategy of six handed play. Daniel Negreanu and James Van Alstyne each recorded their second final table appearance during this World Series while Erik Seidel made his first final table this year.

Event 15: $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em

Brian Lemke earned his first career bracelet when he beat Fabian Quoss heads-up in the $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em Event. Quoss went all-in preflop and Lemke called him. Quoss’ ace-queen had Lemke’s ace-8 dominated. However, Lemke hit a straight on the turn, and Quoss was eliminated. Lemke took home $692,658 while Quoss would receive $427,912 for his second-place finish.

Event 16: $1,500 Seven Card Stud

Another professional made his mark on the World Series as Jeffrey Lisandro captured his second career bracelet. On the final hand, Lisandro brought it in with a 5, Rod Pardey completed with a king, Lisandro raised and Pardey called. On fourth street, Lisandro got a king, Pardey got an 8, and all of the money went in the middle. Lisandro got a fifth diamond on sixth street and won with the nut flush. He won $124,959 for his victory. Pardey received $77,230 for finishing runner-up.

Event 17: $1,000 Ladies No-Limit Hold'em World Championship

Lisa Hamilton went through 1,059 players to win her first career bracelet in her first major live poker tournament. On the last hand of the tournament, Lori Bender reraised all-in on a J-8-3-4 board. Hamilton went over her options before eventually making the call. Bender showed 9-8 for a pair of eights, but Hamilton had Bender out kicked with a queen-8. The river bricked for Bender, and Hamilton walked away with $195,390. Bender pocketed $120,575.

Event 18: $10,000 World Championship Omaha 8 or Better

Yet another stacked World Series final table as Negreanu, Scott Clements and Annie Duke all had a shot to take down the $10,000 World Championship Omaha 8 or Better tournament. However, Daniel Alaei would prevail beating Clements heads-up in just two hands.

On the final hand, Clements raised on the button, Alaei reraised, Clements four-bet all-in and Alaei called. Alaei held A-K-K-4 with two clubs while Clements held A-5-3-2 with three hearts. Clements couldn’t catch up and Alaei held on for the win and his second gold bracelet. He won $445,898 and Clements would have to settle for second place and $275,946.

Event 19: $2,500 No-Limit Hold'em Six Handed

Brock Parker navigated a field of over 1,000 participants to earn his second gold bracelet in one week. On the last hand, Joe Serock raised to 200,000 on the button, Parker reraised to 1 million, Serock reraised all-in and Parker called. Serock showed pocket tens, but was crushed by Parker’s pocket queens. The board didn’t help Serock and Parker secured the victory and $552,745 in prize money. Serock won $341,783 for his second-place finish.

Event 20: $1,500 Pot-Limit Hold'em

Erik Seidel made his first final table of the 2009 World Series. However, he would have to wait another day to win his ninth bracelet as he finished in seventh place. J.P. Kelly would take down the $1,500 Pot-Limit Hold’em event. On the final hand, Marc Tschirch raised to 55,000 preflop, Kelly reraised to 150,000 and Tschirch called.

The flop came 8-5-4 rainbow. Kelly bet 155,000 and Tschirch called. The turn was a queen and Kelly bet 300,000. Tschirch went all-in and Kelly insta-called. Kelly showed ace-queen and Tschirch revealed ace-5. The river was no help to Tschirch and Kelly won his first career bracelet and $194,434. Tschirch received $120,102 for finishing runner-up.

Event 21: $3,000 H.O.R.S.E.

James Van Alstyne made his second final table of this World Series and came within one player of capturing a gold bracelet. However, Zachary Fellows would deny Van Alstyne of that gold bracelet. The last hand was hold’em, Fellows raised on the button and Van Alstyne called.

The flop was 6-5-3 with two clubs. Van Alstyne checked, Fellows bet and Van Alstyne called. The turn was a jack of hearts and Van Alstyne bet. Fellows raised and Van Alstyne called and was all-in. Fellows flipped over pocket sixes for trip sixes. Van Alstyne turned over ace-5 and was drawing dead. Fellows won his first career gold bracelet along with $311,899. Van Alstyne took home $192,866 for his efforts.
