Phil Ivey proved why he is considered one of the best poker players in the world as he captured his sixth WSOP bracelet.

Daniel Negreanu also made a strong showing in Event 14 coming within one opponent of capturing his fifth gold bracelet.

Event 8: $2,500 No-Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball

Phil Ivey won his sixth career bracelet in the No-Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball tournament. He defeated John Monette heads-up. On the last hand, Monette raised on the button, Ivey moved all-in and Monette called. Monette showed 9-7-5-2 and requested one draw. Ivey showed a 7-6-4-2 for a much stronger hand.

When Monette revealed his draw card paired his 7, he was drawing dead. However, Ivey showed his draw card anyway, and he revealed a 5 for one of the best hands in 2-7 lowball. Ivey walked away with $96,361 for his win. With six bracelets, he is now tied for 7th place all-time at the WSOP. Monette took home $59,587 for his efforts.

Event 9: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em 6 Handed

Ken Aldridge navigated a field of over 1,400 players to take down his first WSOP bracelet. On the final hand, Aldridge’s opponent, Carman Cavella, went all-in with king-4 of diamonds, but Aldridge had him dominated with the king-queen. The board failed to help Cavella, and gave Aldridge the straight and the win. Aldridge received $428,259 for the victory while Cavella won $264,814 for his second place finish.

Event 10: $2,500 Pot-Limit Hold'em/ Pot-Limit Omaha

Another player won his first career bracelet as Rami Boukai defeated Najib Bennani heads-up. Bennani raised on the button and Boukai re-raised the pot to put Bennani all-in. Bennani called and flipped over queen-jack and was in a race situation against Boukai’s pocket nines. Bennnani flopped a queen, but the turn gave Boukai a 9 and the lead. The river was a blank, and Boukai took home $244,862 for his biggest cash to date. Bennani left with $151,335 for his runner-up finish.

Event 11: $2,000 No-Limit Hold'em

Peter Rho made his all-in move at precisely the wrong time. On a board of K-9-8-J, Rho pushed all-in and was insta-called by Anthony Harb. Rho turned over 9-8 for two pair, but was way behind when Harb flipped over Q-10 for a turned straight. The river blanked for Rho and Harb pocketed $569,199 and his first gold bracelet. Rho won $350,019 for coming in second place.

Event 12: $10,000 World Championship Mixed Event

The final table of the $10,000 World Championship Mixed Event included the likes of Todd Brunson, Mark Gregorich, Huck Seed and James Van Alstyne. However, Ville Wahlbeck would emerge victorious from this stacked final table. He entered heads-up play with David Chiu with a 5-1 chip lead.

On the final hand, the game was Omaha 8 or better. Chiu went all-in preflop and Wahlbeck made the call. Chiu made a pair of tens on the turn to take the lead, but Wahlbeck made a straight on the river and eliminated Chiu. Wahlbeck took home $492,375 for his largest cash ever and his first gold bracelet. Chiu would have to settle for second place and $304,176.

Event 13: $2,500 No-Limit Hold'em

Kevin Stammen and Angel Guillen were about even in chips on the very last hand of the $2,500 No-Limit Hold’em tournament. Stammen, with the slight chip lead, raised to 105,000 from the button and Guillen called. The flop came 9-8-2 with two hearts. Guillen checked and Stammen bet 225,000. Guillen raised all-in and Stammen called.

Guillen flipped over jack-9 of hearts for top pair and a flush draw, but Stammen showed pocket jacks for the over pair. The turn and river failed to improve Guillen and Stammen walked away with $506,786. Guillen won $312,800 for his second place finish.

Event 14: $2,500 Limit Hold'em Six Handed

The final table of the $2,500 Limit Hold’em Six Handed tournament included Daniel Negreanu and Cardplayer CEO Barry Shulman. Negreanu, in search of his fifth bracelet, would go heads-up with Brock Parker. On the last hand, Parker raised to 80,000 and Negreanu called. The flop came ace-10-6. Negreanu checked and Parker bet 40,000. Negreanu raised, Parker re-raised, Negreanu four-bet and Parker called. The turn was a 4 and Negreanu went all-in. Parker made the call.

Negreanu turned over king-10 for a pair of tens, but Parker flipped up ace-jack for a pair of aces. The river did not help Negreanu and he would have to wait to capture his fifth bracelet another day. Parker pocketed $223,688 for his victory while Negreanu walked away with $138,280.
