Texas Hold ‘Em Rules: What is a Blind?
1) Two players place out a predetermined amount of money for the minimum bet. Placing this amount is called posting the blind, and it is does by the two players to the left side of the dealer.
2) One standard deck of 52 playing cards is shuffled by the dealer.
3) Each player at the table is dealt two cards face down for their hand. These cards are most commonly referred to as a player’s pocket cards or hole cards.
4) A round of betting begins with the player third from the left of the dealer, or directly to the left of the players who posted the blinds. This round of betting is known as the pre-flop bets.
5) The amount being bet is determined by the stakes of the table and the predetermined blinds already established.
6) Like most other poker games, betting includes checking, raising or folding.

7) Once the round of betting has ended, the dealer will discard the top card (called a burn card).
8) The dealer then presents the flop. The flop is the first three cards on the top of the deck, which are dealt face up on the table. These are community cards and can be used with the two pocket cards to form a poker hand.
9. There is another round of betting starting with the player to the left of the dealer.
10. After the betting concludes, the dealer burns another card and flips one more onto the table. This is called the turn card. Players can use this sixth card now to form a five-card poker hand.

11. The player to the left of the dealer begins another round of betting. In many types of games, this is where the bet size doubles.
12. Finally, the dealer burns a card and places a final card face up on the table. This is called the river. Players can now use any of the five cards on the table or the two cards in their pocket to form a five-card poker hand.
13. There is one final round of betting starting with the player to the left of the dealer.
14. After that, all of the players remaining in the game begin to reveal their hands. This begins with the player to the left of the last player to call. It's called the showdown.
15. The player with the best hand wins.
